Current News about VALID

Printer-friendly version

The VALID Steering Committee is hosting two thought-provoking workshops this month that will assist us in developing a business plan for the implementation of VALID.

Carl Grant will facilitate the first worshop on November 14th. Carl is the Associate Dean for Knowledge Services and Chief Technology Officer at the University Oklahoma Libraries, and held leadership positions for many years at Ex Libris, VTLS, Ameritech Library Services, and Innovative Interfaces. He will lead a discussion on the transformative uses of open source software and how we can capitalize on an information system such as VALID.

Liz Bishoff, head of Bishoff Group, LLC consulting firm will facilitate the second session on November 17th. Liz has extensive experience in library management and technical services having been VP for Digital Collection Services, and Director of Members Services at OCLC, president of ALCTS, project director for the Colorado Digitization Project and a consultant for libraries across the country. Liz will lead discussions on organizational structure and finances.

Carl and Liz's joint report is due at the end of December to help VALE map out an organizational and financial infrastructure for moving the VALID project forward.

At the same time we are watching and learning from the implementation of the Kuali OLE software at University of Chicago and Lehigh University, which are early adopters!
